How to build the form your guests RSVP with

Ask what you need to know: allergies, plus-ones, whether they want the shuttle back. Anything except your aunt’s age.

Computer only

Where to find it

The event’s “Form” tab

Before you start

  • Having your event open. It already comes with a base form you can use as is.

Steps

  1. 1

Open the “Form” tab. You’ll see three views: “Form” (what the guest fills in), “On confirm” and “On decline” (what they see after answering).

  2. 2

Tap “Edit” at the bottom of the page.

  3. 3

Tap “Add field” and choose the type: “Short answer”, “Multiple choice”, “Checkboxes”, “Dropdown”, “Multiple answers”, “Paragraph” or “Title”.

  4. 4

Set up the field: “Title”, “Help text”, the options and the “Field name”, which is how it will show in your list and in Excel. Tick “Optional” if it isn’t required. Tap “Done”.

  5. 5

Order it with “Move up” and “Move down”, or use “Duplicate” and “Delete”.

  6. 6

Tap “Preview” to try it as if you were a guest.

  7. 7

Tap “Publish”. You’ll see “Form published — Your guests can now see the changes.”

Result

Your guests see the new form when they tap “RSVP”.

Notes

To ask for each plus-one’s name: use “Multiple answers” with “Variable” and “Depending on...” “Confirmed seats”. If they confirm 3, the form asks for 3 names. Admin magic.

For questions that only apply to some guests: under “This field only appears if...” tap “Add condition”. For example, “What’s your dietary restriction?” only appears if they answered “Yes” to “Do you have any dietary restrictions?”. You can also filter by hashtag, so the shuttle question only shows up for #OutOfTown.

At the top there’s a simulator with “Assigned seats” and “Hashtags to preview” to test conditions without having to be your cousin from out of town.

If your invitation is in more than one language, the form isn’t translated: your guests see it exactly as you wrote it. If you have guests from abroad, you can write each question in both languages.

Customize “On confirm” and “On decline” too: there you can add a “Button” with a link, for example to your gift registry.

Common issues

Limit

It’s the only fixed field: without it there’s no RSVP.

Special case

The answers are still saved, but only those for the current fields are shown. Before deleting or changing a field that already has answers, export your list to Excel.

Special case

Check that the field it compares against still exists and that the value is written exactly the same.
